Poker Face Series Peter Dinklage

Los Angeles, CA — Peacock has canceled the series Poker Face, after its second season, but creator Rian Johnson is not ready to say goodbye. Johnson and producer MRC are exploring options to revive the series with a new lead actor, Peter Dinklage, taking over the role of Charlie Cale, known for her uncanny ability to detect lies.

In a joint statement, Johnson and Natasha Lyonne, who originally starred as Cale, expressed their commitment to continuing the series. “We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the season two finale. We love our Poker Face, and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway,” they said.

Originally premiering in January 2023, Poker Face garnered a dedicated fanbase and received critical acclaim, along with six Emmy nominations over its two seasons. Despite being among Peacock’s most-watched shows, the second season’s ratings dipped slightly, coupled with high production costs, led to the decision to cancel.

Johnson plans to shop Poker Face to other networks, aiming for a two-season commitment and a unique format where the lead role rotates every two years. Dinklage, a beloved television and film actor, will be the first to take on the character.

This approach is reminiscent of other series that have successfully replaced lead actors, such as The Crown and Doctor Who. The first season was helmed by showrunners Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, while Tony Tost took over for Season 2. It remains unclear who will take the reins moving forward.

Amid this transition, Lyonne will stay on as an executive producer, creating new storylines for future episodes while supporting the creative vision of the show. Dinklage’s involvement as the new lead character ensures that fans may yet see new murder mysteries solved by Charlie Cale.

As Johnson and Dinklage prepare for this new phase, the future of Poker Face looks intriguing, and fans of the series are eager for more updates.
