Police Pursuit Ends in Crash, Capture of Attempted Murder Suspect in Winter Park

WINTER PARK, Fla. — A police pursuit involving Osceola County sheriff’s deputies ended in a crash in Winter Park late Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the arrest of Jordan Bailey, a suspect wanted for attempted murder.
The incident began when deputies pursued Bailey, identified as the driver of a maroon truck, across the county line into Orange County. The chase culminated in a collision on Clay Street near W. Fairbanks Ave., where Bailey’s vehicle crashed into an Osceola County deputy’s cruiser, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
Witnesses reported a chaotic scene following the crash. “I smelled burnt rubber, and he told me that some dude got T-boned out here,” said Kevin Skaff, a bystander. “The police officers that came — they were here in like three seconds. It was crazy.”
Bailey, who was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries, is linked to a March 13 shooting on Pershing Street, where he allegedly attempted murder. Records show Bailey is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
Assisting in the pursuit were various law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals and Florida Highway Patrol, which cooperated to apprehend Bailey. The exact circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.
Odelle Marshall, another witness, described the intensity of the chase as he observed the truck speeding down the street. “I see a red truck just zooming down the street, and I’m like, ‘Oh, okay what’s going on?’ and then one of the cop SUV cars was in hot pursuit,” Marshall recounted.
Officials have not disclosed the specifics surrounding the crash’s speed or the factors contributing to the collision. Meanwhile, people in the area expressed concern over the risks posed by high-speed pursuits.
“We want to ensure our community remains safe. High-speed chases can have dangerous consequences for everyone involved,” said an official from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the chase and crash continues as law enforcement agencies collaborate to gather further details.
