Twice K Pop Performance Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

NEW YORK, NY — On October 15, K-pop group TWICE made history as the second K-pop act to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The group performed their songs “Strategy” and “This Is For” while four members walked the pink carpet and reallocated the missing members’ parts among themselves.

While the show featured polished staging, audience reactions turned critical soon after. Social media users took to their platforms, voicing disappointment in the live singing. One tweet gained traction, stating, “Omg who is singing this sounds awful.” Other comments echoed this sentiment, with viewers remarking, “She looks good but goddamn the vocals” and “I thought the tweets were exaggerating with TWICE’s horrible vocals but dear God.” Many comments specifically aimed at member Tzuyu, accusing her of having “weak vocals.”

In response to the backlash, Tzuyu addressed her fans through a personal messaging platform, Bubble. She expressed her regret and detailed her condition, stating, “ONCE, I’m sorry.. Before coming to New York, I practised well with my vocal coach, but after arriving, my throat started getting worse. During rehearsal, I could still make sounds, but it got much worse during the main performance.” She noted that despite her efforts to soothe her throat with honey tea and other remedies, she struggled to perform.

Despite the criticisms, many fans rallied around Tzuyu and her fellow members, expressing hope for their health and future performances. Fans encouraged the group to prioritize their well-being leading up to their upcoming engagements, demonstrating continued support.

Overall, TWICE’s appearance at the fashion show sparked debate over live performances in high-pressure environments, highlighting the challenges artists face in maintaining vocal health.
