Big Bang Theory Spinoff

A new spinoff series based on the popular TV sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” is reportedly in the works, with several actors from the original cast involved in early development. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus have signed talent-holding deals with Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind “The Big Bang Theory” franchise, with the intention of starring in this new offshoot.

The spinoff project is being developed under the stewardship of Chuck Lorre, the co-creator and executive producer of “The Big Bang Theory” and its spinoffs such as “Young Sheldon,” which is currently running and will soon give way to another spinoff, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” set to debut next week on CBS.

Speculation regarding the premise of the new series suggests it may revolve around the character Stuart Bloom, played by Sussman, and his comic book store. The involvement of Posehn and Lapkus, who both played characters tied to the store in the original series, lends credence to this theory.

Kevin Sussman’s character, Stuart, was a regular fixture in “The Big Bang Theory,” serving as the manager of the comic book store from the second season until the show’s conclusion in its twelfth season. Lauren Lapkus, who joined the show later as the quirky assistant manager Denise, had a romantic storyline with Stuart. Meanwhile, Brian Posehn, who portrayed geologist Bert Kibbler, also appeared alongside them in multiple episodes.

The original “The Big Bang Theory” premiered on CBS in 2007 and became the longest-running multi-camera comedy in television history by the time it ended in 2019, completing 279 episodes over 12 seasons. Its legacy continues with successful spinoffs and possible new projects from Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Despite the excitement about the potential reunion of these characters, the new series has yet to receive an official green light, and the script is still in progress. Representatives for Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre have declined to comment on the project’s development at this stage.
