Potential New Character Unveiled in Upcoming Frasier Episode
In an upcoming episode of the popular sitcom revival, Frasier, a familiar face from Dr. Crane‘s past makes a notable return. Harriet Sansom Harris reprises her role as Bebe Glazer, introducing her daughter Phoebe, a character with uncanny similarities to Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer.
Bebe Glazer, known for her relentless ambition, returns as Frasier has just completed writing his memoir. She attempts to coax him back into television, capitalizing on the potential financial windfall. Alongside Bebe is her daughter Phoebe, played by Rachel Bloom, who bears striking resemblances to Frasier in interests and demeanor.
The episode teases viewers with the possibility that Phoebe could be Frasier’s daughter, stemming from a possible tryst between Frasier and Bebe in the mid-1990s. This suspicion is initially triggered during an impromptu musical duet between Frasier and Phoebe, performing “You’re the Top” from Cole Porter‘s Anything Goes.
Rachel Bloom, well-known for her role in the musical comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, expressed her excitement about joining the Frasier cast, describing it as “a dream come true” to work alongside television icons like Kelsey Grammer and Harriet Sansom Harris. “It was like a master class,” Bloom remarked on her experience, likening it to observing seasoned actors at work.
Showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, friends of Bloom and collaborators with her husband Dan Gregor, initially suggested the role for Bloom during a visit to the set last year. With the renewal of Frasier for a second season, their proposal came to fruition, much to Bloom’s delight.
As viewers await the new episode, there is speculation around whether Phoebe will have a lasting impact on the series’ storyline or remain a brief yet poignant addition. Given that Bloom appears as a guest star, the show’s future may hinge on whether her character becomes a staple or serves as a narrative twist.
Frasier’s exploration of new family dynamics and character interrelations continues to draw interest from its audience, keeping the spirit of the original series alive. The new season of Frasier airs Thursdays on Paramount+.
