Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei Ties the Knot in Lavish Royal Wedding
Brunei‘s Prince Abdul Mateen, widely known as one of Asia‘s most eligible bachelors, has recently celebrated his marriage to Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah in a grand 10-day royal affair. The lavish wedding festivities commenced on January 7th and culminated with an extravagant ceremony held at the opulent Istana Nurul Iman palace. Attended by esteemed dignitaries and nobility from Asia and the Middle East, the event marked the union of the 32-year-old prince and his 29-year-old bride.
Prince Mateen, one of the ten children of Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, donned a ceremonial uniform for the occasion, while Anisha Rosnah dazzled in a long white gown adorned with sparkling jewels. The newlyweds delighted the public by embarking on a grand procession through the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, on the eighth day of the festivities. As thousands of spectators cheered, the couple waved to the crowds.
The wedding bliss continued at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, where the Islamic solemnisation ceremony took place. Prince Mateen, dressed in a traditional white outfit adorned with diamond-shaped motifs and an accompanying headpiece, arrived at the gold-domed mosque in a luxury saloon. The intimate male-only ceremony was officiated by an imam and attended by the sultan, family members, and other distinguished guests.
Brunei’s extravagant celebrations showcased the nation’s extreme affluence, primarily rooted in its vast oil reserves. As an absolute monarchy governed by strict Islamic laws, the tiny country boasts a population of approximately 450,000 people, making it one of the wealthiest nations on the globe.
Although Prince Mateen is well down the succession line, he has garnered attention through his active presence on social media, where he frequently flaunts his lavish lifestyle. With over 2.5 million followers on Instagram, he often shares glimpses of his luxurious travels, polo matches, and personal adventures. The prince, a helicopter pilot in Brunei’s air force, is sometimes compared to Britain’s Prince Harry and has been dubbed the ‘hot royal.’
The union of Prince Mateen and Anisha Rosnah resonates as a fairytale, captivating both locals and the international community. Their wedding extravagance is an expression of appreciation for the royal family, accentuated by the warmth and adoration of the Bruneian people.
