Radio Host Sian Welby Announces Pregnancy Live On Air

Radio hosts Chris Stark and Roman Kemp were left in disbelief as their co-host Sian Welby made a surprising announcement live on air. Welby, who replaced Kemp on the show, revealed she is pregnant, leading to a joyful celebration in the studio.

The trio, consisting of Stark, Kemp, and Welby, had been hosting the show together since November 2023. Welby began her pregnancy reveal by sharing the exciting news with her colleagues, expressing how challenging it had been to keep it a secret.

Welby’s announcement sparked immediate excitement and surprise in the studio, with Kemp exclaiming, ‘Oh my god! Shut up,’ while Stark congratulated her, calling it ‘the most exciting, amazing news.’

Welby humorously recounted the lengths she went to in order to conceal her pregnancy, mentioning how she tricked her co-hosts by ordering non-alcoholic drinks and intercepting orders to keep her secret hidden.

The news of Welby’s pregnancy came shortly after Jordan North‘s announcement of leaving BBC Radio 1. On 21 February, it was revealed that North would be taking over Kemp’s position on the show, joining Welby and Stark as a host.

In an Instagram post, Kemp expressed his support for North, stating, ‘Couldn’t have gone to a better bloke.’ North is set to host his final show on 28 March, marking the culmination of this transition in the popular radio show.
