Rahul Gandhi Arrives in Colombia for South America Tour

NEW DELHI, India — Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, arrived in Bogota, Colombia, on Monday as part of his South America tour. He is scheduled to engage with political leaders, university students, and members of the business community.
The Congress party shared a video of Gandhi’s arrival, showcasing him interacting with locals. The party’s post read, “Today, LoP Shri @RahulGandhi reached Bogota, Colombia. He is on a tour of South America, where he is scheduled to engage with political leaders, university students, and members of the business community across four countries.”
However, the tour has been met with criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused Gandhi of “building a global alliance” to undermine Indian democracy. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari stated, “Rahul Gandhi goes on yet another foreign visit! Wonder who will be the next anti-India element that Rahul will meet behind closed doors!”
Bhandari also mentioned the recent arrest of Sonam Wangchuk, an ideological figure associated with Gandhi, linking the timing of the tour to this incident. “Note the timing: Just after his ideological anarchist Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested under the NSA, Rahul Gandhi has departed!” he said.
The responses from political circles underscore the contentious atmosphere surrounding Gandhi’s international engagements and the perception of such tours in the context of domestic politics.
