Raiders’ Struggles Prompt Potential Trade of Jakobi Meyers to Steelers

Las Vegas, NV — The Las Vegas Raiders are on course for another disappointing season after starting 1-4, prompting general manager John Spytek to consider trading assets for a rebuild.
This season marks Spytek’s and head coach Pete Carroll‘s first in Las Vegas. Despite their desire to compete immediately, the team’s performance has fallen flat.
Quarterback Geno Smith was anticipated to significantly improve the team’s offense, but he has struggled, contributing to the Raiders’ poor start. According to Pro Football & Sports Network‘s Josh Weil, the Raiders could soon be sellers as the trade deadline approaches.
Weil specifically predicts the Raiders will trade wide receiver Jakobi Meyers for a fourth-round pick. Meyers, who fell out of favor in Las Vegas after requesting a trade, is seen as a strong candidate for the Steelers, who need help at the wide receiver position.
Last season, Meyers shone as the top receiving option for the Raiders, making him a valuable asset. His upcoming free agency status means the Raiders need to trade him before he potentially walks away with no return.
The Steelers, dealing with injuries to Calvin Austin and a lack of depth in their receiving corps, could greatly benefit from adding Meyers. He has consistently performed well as a No. 2 receiver, boasting over 800 yards in four seasons, despite playing with subpar quarterbacks.
After signing Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers appear committed to competing in 2025 and may view acquiring Meyers as a necessary move to bolster their playoff aspirations.
