Nashville, Tennessee — Country music legend Randy Travis has released a new Christmas song, titled “Where My Heart Is,” marking a significant step in his recovery more than a decade after suffering a near-fatal stroke.

Travis’ wife, Mary, spoke with Fox News Digital about their journey since the stroke, which left the singer with partial paralysis and affected his ability to speak. “It’s been a while since he’s had a new song,” Mary said. “We didn’t know where we were going to be in the future after the stroke. Christmas is a sweet time of the year for so many, and to have a new Christmas song just feels special.”

The couple revisited old recordings to uncover holiday music that had never been released. Mary expressed her excitement about sharing this music with fans. “I get in the mood for Christmas by playing Randy Travis’ Christmas music,” she added.

Randy Travis is known for classic hits like “Forever and Ever, Amen,” but his health challenges have made it difficult for him to perform. He was hospitalized in 2013 for congestive heart failure related to viral cardiomyopathy, which ultimately caused the stroke.

Mary reflected on how the experience has changed their perspective on life and love. “You learn to appreciate the time with the ones you love because one day, God will need them back,” she noted. She believes that the opportunity to create new music is cathartic for both Randy and their family.

Despite the challenges, Mary said, “The voice is iconic, one of a kind. He’d give anything to sing like that again, but the fact that he’s okay with not singing makes him even more admirable.” Their faith has been a cornerstone in overcoming obstacles throughout Randy’s recovery.
