Female Rapper Social Media Statement

New York, NY – Female rapper Banks took to social media on Thursday, April 23, to address recent allegations that her music sounds like that of other female artists. In a post on X, Banks firmly stated, “I don’t sound like anyone. I hate when y’all say that. If you’ve been listening to my music since 2020, you know I’ve always had my own sound.”

This response comes after fans drew comparisons between Banks’ latest song, “On My Face,” and the work of rapper GloRilla. As many fans noted stylistic similarities, GloRilla has yet to publicly comment on the issue.

In a 2024 interview, Banks discussed how she has faced similar accusations over her career. She recalled a moment when she freestyled on Gucci Mane’s “I Think I Love Her” beat, a time that coincided with another artist’s similar freestyle. “Everybody can do a freestyle on whatever beat they choose, but it’s a big difference between me and you,” she stated, quoting Nicki Minaj.

Meanwhile, GloRilla is scheduled to headline a concert alongside Muni Long and A Boogie on June 20 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

In a related announcement, fellow rapper Cardi B recently revealed that her upcoming album will be deeply personal and encompass a variety of emotions. During an interview at the Revolve Festival, she shared that fans can expect an unexpected sound, stating, “It feels like it’s something that’s not really out right now.”

Cardi emphasized that her experiences, ranging from heartbreak to love, will play a significant role in the new music. Despite delays to her new album, she shared on X that she is taking a break and focusing on herself for the time being.

She added that while she is not releasing an album this year, she will continue to drop features and enjoy her summer. Fans are eager to see how both artists will address the ongoing discussions about their music in their forthcoming projects.
