Rapper Clears Up Comparisons to Other Artists on Social Media

In a post on X, Banks firmly stated, “I don’t sound like anyone. I hate when y’all say that. If you’ve been listening to my music since 2020, you know I’ve always had my own sound.”

This response comes after fans drew comparisons between Banks’ latest song, “On My Face,” and the work of rapper GloRilla. As many fans noted stylistic similarities, GloRilla has yet to publicly comment on the issue.

In a 2024 interview, Banks discussed how she has faced similar accusations over her career. She recalled a moment when she freestyled on Gucci Mane’s “I Think I Love Her” beat, a time that coincided with another artist’s similar freestyle. “Everybody can do a freestyle on whatever beat they choose, but it’s a big difference between me and you,” she stated, quoting Nicki Minaj.

Meanwhile, GloRilla is scheduled to headline a concert alongside Muni Long and A Boogie on June 20 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
