Rashee Rice Chiefs Receiver Training Camp Injury

Kansas City, MO — Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice did not participate in practice on Wednesday due to a groin injury.

Rice was observed on the sidelines during practice, which indicated he was present with his teammates despite not taking part in drills. Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride reported that his presence is a promising sign as Rice tries to recover from a previous injury.

Last season, Rice suffered a torn LCL during Week 4, an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season after a strong start. The 25-year-old wide receiver caught 24 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in just three games.

As training camp began, Rice’s status for the upcoming season is still uncertain. He faces potential disciplinary action after pleading guilty to felony charges for a hit-and-run incident in 2024. It remains to be seen if he will receive a multi-game suspension.

Reflecting on his past experience, Rice said, “I completely changed. You have to learn from things like that. So I’ve learned, and I’ve taken advantage of being able to learn from something like that.”

Although Rice’s immediate availability is in question, his talent is undeniable. When he is able to return, he is expected to be a significant threat for the Chiefs’ offense, contributing alongside other key players like quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Even with Rice’s absence, Mahomes has shown great chemistry with second-year receiver Xavier Worthy, another explosive target for the Chiefs this season.
