Raven-Symoné Reflects on Career and Personal Life: From Child Star to Disney Producer
Raven-Symoné, born Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman-Maday on December 10, 1985, has had a storied career in the entertainment industry. She began her acting career as a child, notably appearing as Olivia Kendall on the popular sitcom *The Cosby Show* from 1989 to 1992 and later as Nicole Lee on *Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper* from 1993 to 1997.
Her breakthrough role came with the Disney Channel series *That's So Raven*, which she starred in from 2003 to 2007. The show was a massive success, becoming the channel’s highest-rated and longest-running series at the time, and it spawned a franchise including soundtracks, dolls, and video games. The series also earned her multiple Emmy nominations.
In addition to her acting career, Raven-Symoné has also ventured into music. She released her debut album, *Here’s to New Dreams*, in 1993, and later albums such as her self-titled album in 2008. Recently, she has released new music, including tracks like “Sarafina” and “Cruise Control” in 2016, and the EP *33000* in 2019.
On the personal front, Raven-Symoné recently shared a unique and emotional experience about proposing to her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday. During an appearance on *The Unplanned Podcast*, she recalled dissociating during the proposal, describing a ‘full-on panic attack’ that led her to leave the scene momentarily. Despite the unusual reaction, the proposal was successful, and the couple is now married.
Raven-Symoné continues to be active in the entertainment industry. In May 2024, she signed an overall deal with Disney Branded Television and is set to produce a spinoff of *Raven’s Home* titled *Alice in the Palace*, scheduled to premiere in 2025. She has also taken on a new role as a host of the game show *Scrabble* on The CW).
