Ravens Edge Bengals in Overtime Thriller
In an exhilarating encounter at Paycor Stadium, the Baltimore Ravens triumphed over the Cincinnati Bengals with a 41-38 victory in overtime, witnessed by 66,341 fans. The game featured standout performances from players on both teams, with quarterback Lamar Jackson and kicker Justin Tucker playing pivotal roles in securing the win for the Ravens.
Lamar Jackson, who delivered a performance reminiscent of his MVP season, completed 26 of 42 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 55 yards. His critical touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely in the fourth quarter highlighted his indefatigable spirit and skill in crucial moments.
In the dramatic closing stages, after Jackson’s fumble in overtime, Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed a 53-yard field goal attempt. Ravens’ running back Derrick Henry then capitalized with a 51-yard run, setting up Tucker for a game-winning 24-yard field goal.
Head Coach John Harbaugh praised the team’s determination, stating, “That was a grit win. That shows you everything you need to know about their character.”
On the Bengals’ side, quarterback Joe Burrow made history by throwing five touchdown passes for the first time in his career, completing 30 of 39 passes for 392 yards. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was instrumental, with 10 receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including a 70-yarder that underscored his big-play ability.
The Bengals, despite their prolific offensive showing, saw their efforts overshadowed by critical defensive lapses, allowing the Ravens to rally multiple times. “We played really well. By no means was it perfect,” Burrow noted, reflecting on the team’s performance.
Defensive struggles were evident for the Ravens, with Harbaugh acknowledging areas for improvement despite the victory. “There are plenty of things to look at and pick apart, things that we’ll be working hard to improve on,” he said.
The loss left the Bengals at 1-4, deepening their challenges in the AFC North, while the Ravens improved to 3-2, winning their third consecutive game.
