Reality Star Faces Backlash Over TikTok Rant at Elderly Sandwich Shop Worker
Reality TV star Jen Aydin has sparked widespread criticism after posting a TikTok video complaining about an elderly worker at a Jersey Mike's sandwich shop. The incident occurred on New Year’s Day at a mall outlet, where Aydin, 47, expressed frustration over slow service and mocked the employee’s age and pace.
In the video, Aydin described waiting in a long line and claimed the worker, whom she referred to as an “80-year-old,” took an excessive amount of time to prepare her sandwich. She also criticized a fellow customer who objected to her adding an extra sandwich to her order, calling him a “loser” and a “freaking jerk.” Aydin later shared the encounter on her Instagram Stories, where she defended her actions and accused the man of threatening to sue her.
The backlash was swift, with TikTok users and fans condemning Aydin’s behavior. One commenter called her “a bottom-tier human,” while another questioned why she would “make fun of an elderly person” working on a holiday. Many pointed out that older individuals often work out of necessity, not choice, and criticized Aydin for her lack of empathy.
Aydin, who stars on Bravo‘s “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” has not publicly apologized for the incident. A representative for the reality star declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE. Jersey Mike’s also did not respond to requests for comment.
This is not the first time Aydin has faced criticism for her behavior. Earlier this year, she was accused of body-shaming her husband and lashing out at a fan during BravoCon. The latest incident has further fueled discussions about entitlement and respect for service workers, particularly those in vulnerable positions.
As the video continues to circulate online, many are calling for Aydin to address the controversy and reflect on her actions. For now, the incident serves as a reminder of the power of social media to hold public figures accountable for their behavior.
