LOS ANGELES, CA — Rebecca Black, the singer who gained viral fame at 13 for her music video “Friday,” announced on March 9, 2025, that she will open for Katy Perry on 20 arena shows for The Lifetimes Tour.

Black shared the news via Instagram, captioning a photo with Perry, “Secrets out. @katyperry I can’t wait to join you on THE LIFETIMES TOUR!!!!” In response, Perry expressed her excitement, stating, “About to spend a lot more Fridays with @MsRebeccaBlack. WELCOME TO THE LIFETIMES TOUR BABES.” A video accompanying Perry’s post showed her inviting Black to join her on stage.

The Orange County native initially faced ridicule when “Friday” premiered in early 2011, garnering only 1,000 views after its first month on YouTube. However, a segment on Daniel Tosh’s show “Tosh.0” propelled the video to 13 million views in a week, leading to a flood of negative comments. To date, it has amassed 174 million views.

Reflecting on the experience, Black’s journey illustrates her resilience in the face of public criticism. “It was challenging to see something I loved become a subject of mockery,” she said. Despite the negativity, she continued to pursue her music career, eventually appearing in Perry’s music video for “Last Friday Night” in 2011.
