Rebel Wilson Details On-Set Injury Before ‘Bride Hard’ Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actress Rebel Wilson shared details of a serious injury she sustained while filming her new action-comedy, ‘Bride Hard.’ The incident occurred on the final night of shooting in May 2023, leading to emergency plastic surgery.
Wilson, 45, described the accident as a freak event. “I was in a tussle with the stunt guy, and a gun accidentally got whacked right across my face, hit me in the nose, and split my nose open, so there was a pool of blood,” she said.
In an Instagram post from August 2023, Wilson showed her followers her bruised nose and recounted her experience in the emergency room. She stated, “I was rushed to the hospital, and they had to get a plastic surgeon to put my nose back.”
The surgery was urgent because Wilson had a flight to catch for another directing job. “I had to get on a plane for another job. Yeah, so the plastic surgeon stitched me up on a flight to Australia. Thank God!” she remarked.
Wilson’s co-star, Anna Camp, who was not present during the accident, shared her reaction. During a press event, she joked that she was “sleeping peacefully” when she received the news. “Everybody was so scared and so worried for her, but we couldn’t even say goodbye because she had to get on a plane,” Camp added.
Director Simon West commented on the filming process following Wilson’s injury. “We choreograph everything very carefully and worked it out,” said West, 63. “She learns the fight moves, but once she’s fighting, she is a wild person. She has her own style, and she goes crazy.”
In the action-packed final scene, Wilson’s character faces off against mercenaries while using rubber guns in a choreographed fight. West emphasized, “You get hit in the face with a rubber gun in the middle of a battle, it still hurts and still draws blood.”
Wilson admitted that she “still can’t watch that part of the scene” in the finished film. ‘Bride Hard’ is set to hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
