Arizona Weather Wind Advisory Dust Storm

PHOENIX, Arizona — A Red Flag Warning is in effect today for southern Arizona, including the Phoenix metro area, beginning at 11 a.m. Strong winds gusting between 30 and 45 mph are expected, coupled with very low humidity levels, creating an extremely high fire danger.

Additionally, a Dust Storm Warning is active until 4:15 p.m. along Interstate 10 near Casa Grande and Eloy. Due to these conditions, residents are advised to exercise caution while outdoors.

Today’s high temperatures in the Valley are expected to reach around 82 degrees, with winds picking up during late morning and into the afternoon. There is a slight chance of evening showers, particularly in the higher terrain to the north and east of Phoenix.

Looking ahead to Sunday, highs are projected to remain in the upper 70s before a significant drop in temperatures occurs on Monday, when highs are expected to settle between the upper 60s and around 70 degrees. A slight chance of showers may again appear late Monday into Tuesday, primarily affecting the higher elevations north and east of Phoenix, as well as in the central and eastern mountain regions.

In the previous days, Arizona experienced a mix of clear skies and gusty winds. A low-pressure system passing north of the state has contributed to breezy conditions, with winds strong enough to whip up dust in parts of Eastern Arizona. High temperatures on Thursday reached lower 80s, above the average high of 73 degrees.

A series of low-pressure systems will continue to move north of the state throughout the weekend, contributing to a gradual cooling trend. Sunday may see highs in the upper 70s, with chances for light sprinkles in both the Valley and the higher elevations.

Furthermore, a deeper low-pressure system is anticipated to arrive on Monday, predicted to lower temperatures even further. Highs on both Monday and Tuesday next week are projected to remain below the average, falling to the lower 70s.
