Regis Prograis Faces Jack Catterall in Highly Anticipated Super Lightweight Bout
Regis Prograis, a former two-time world champion at 140 pounds, is set to face Jack Catterall in a highly anticipated super lightweight bout on October 26, 2024. The fight will take place at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester, England, and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Prograis, a 35-year-old from New Orleans, is seeking to reclaim his status in the boxing world after a significant defeat to Devin Haney in December 2023, which cost him his title. Despite this setback, Prograis remains determined, stating, “When I was a world champion, it was kind of like ‘What is there left to do?’ When I don’t have the belt, I’m back hungry, back on my grind, I want to get that again.”
Catterall, a 31-year-old Englishman, is coming off a career-best triumph over Josh Taylor in May 2024, where he avenged his sole career loss with a unanimous decision victory. Catterall is confident about his abilities, saying, “He probably has the better resume as I’ve yet to win a world title and he has, but I’m ready to prove that on Saturday.”
The main event is scheduled to start around 5:30 p.m. ET, depending on the duration of the undercard fights. The undercard includes several intriguing matches, such as Reece Bellotti vs. Michael Gomez Jr., Pat McCormack vs. Williams Andres Herrera, and Joe McGrail vs. Lewis Morris, among others.
Prograis emphasized his motivation for the fight, stating, “Every time I fight I want to make a statement. The main thing is that I do it for legacy. Money is cool, but for me, it’s for legacy. I want to be able to say I am the best at 140. I’ve done it twice and I want to do it again.”
