Reha Kapsal Discusses Osimhen and Icardi’s Striking Differences

Former Fenerbahçe manager Reha Kapsal has provided his insights into the striking differences between Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammate Mauro Icardi. This analysis comes following Galatasaray’s acquisition of Osimhen to their squad just two weeks ago. The presence of the Nigerian international promises to enhance the attacking prowess of the Turkish Super Lig champions.

Besides Osimhen and Icardi, Galatasaray’s roster includes notable strikers such as Michy Batshuayi and Burak Yilmaz. However, Kapsal expressed his belief that Osimhen stands out as superior to the other forwards, including Icardi. In conversation with the Turkish media outlet A Spor, Kapsal highlighted, “The main difference between Osimhen and Icardi is that Icardi needs his teammates to score goals. Osimhen doesn’t need anyone. The Nigerian star finds his position and scores, even when the ball isn’t delivered to him.”

Osimhen recently made his highly anticipated return to club football by donning the colors of Galatasaray for the first time since his last match with Napoli in June. The Super Eagles forward debuted in Galatasaray’s match against Rizespor at RAMS Park and quickly made a significant impact.

In the course of Galatasaray’s commanding 5-0 victory over Rizespor on Saturday, Osimhen notably attempted seven shots, setting a record for a Super Lig match this season. The Nigerian striker played a crucial role when he headed in a free-kick to make it 2-0. However, the goal was officially attributed as an assist for Osimhen after the ball made contact with teammate Abdulkerim Bardakci.

Despite not recording his debut goal, Osimhen remains eager to score as Galatasaray prepares to face Gaziantep this Tuesday. His sharpness and ability to excel with minimal support will undoubtedly play a crucial role as he adjusts to his new role with the Yellow-Reds.
