Revry Launches Unique King of Drag Competition Show

Los Angeles, CA – Revry, the LGBTQ+ streaming platform, has officially announced the judges’ lineup for its new competition show, King of Drag, which aims to celebrate masculine drag personas. The series is set to premiere on June 22.
King of Drag, touted as a first-of-its-kind program, will feature permanent judges including Drag Race alumni and guest judges such as Tony nominee and former WNBA star. The show will highlight contestants of various gender identities, including transmasculine people, cisgender women, and nonbinary performers, all competing as drag kings.
“King of Drag is one of the most ambitious original programs we’ve ever developed,” said Christopher J. Rodriguez, co-founder and chief content officer at Revry. “We’re going to give the drag competition format a run for its money and give audiences something fresh and original.”
The competition will incorporate multiple challenges that emphasize comedy, unconventional performances, and commentary on masculinity, addressing criticisms directed at RuPaul’s Drag Race for neglecting to feature drag kings.
In addition to Velour and Gottmik, permanent judges will include Tenderoni and Damian Pelliccione. Guest judges will feature talents like Paul Feig, Bridget Everett, and Cameron Esposito, among others.
With an eye on inclusivity and diversity, King of Drag aims to redefine the drag competition landscape, offering a platform for artists who have long been unrecognized in mainstream drag culture.
“Our diverse lineup and unique format underscore our commitment to representation within the drag community,” added Rodriguez.
