In a surprising announcement, ‘Good Morning Britain‘ presenter Richard Arnold revealed that he will be taking an extended break from the popular ITV morning show. The announcement left his co-hosts, including Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, visibly taken aback during the latest broadcast.

Richard Arnold, who has been a long-standing member of the ‘Good Morning Britain’ team, is well-known for delivering entertainment news. In a light-hearted manner, Arnold quipped about “retiring” from the show, stating that he would be absent until later in the month but confirmed that he would return in time for the Pride of Britain awards, typically held in late October.

During the show, Arnold provided a brief outline of his plans during the hiatus. When questioned by Ed Balls about his plans to visit Ireland, Arnold clarified that he would not be traveling there but instead intended to spend “quality time with mother,” as he put it.

Responding to his announcement, Susanna Reid playfully remarked, “You’re the ideal son. I just hope that my sons at your age could say the same thing,” to which Arnold jokingly replied, “I wish my mother would say the same thing!”

This news of Richard’s temporary departure comes as he offers fans a rare glimpse into his personal life. Recently, he humorously recounted a disagreement with his partner over a shower attachment, an anecdote that drew laughter from his colleagues on the show.

Earlier this year, Arnold also shared insights into his long-term relationship, noting that he and his partner have been together for nearly two decades. Despite the longevity of their relationship, he humorously indicated that he is still awaiting a marriage proposal from his partner.

Richard Arnold’s temporary leave is expected to conclude before the Pride of Britain awards. In the meantime, fans of ‘Good Morning Britain’ can catch the show on ITV1 weekdays starting at 6 am.
