Richard Gere Family Outing Spain

Madrid, SpainRichard Gere, the acclaimed actor, was recently spotted enjoying family life in Spain, where he relocated with his wife and children last year.

Gere was seen on a casual outing, wearing a black jacket, gray hoodie, joggers, and a white baseball cap, as he visited a local store, GAES, known for hearing aids. This relaxed appearance is a notable change from his past Hollywood glamour.

The 75-year-old actor and his wife, Alejandra Silva, made the significant move from the United States to Spain in pursuit of a quieter, more fulfilling lifestyle for their family. The couple left behind their luxurious $10.8 million mansion in Connecticut to settle in Silva’s home country with their two young sons, Alexander, 5, and James, 4.

In an interview with Elle España, Gere expressed his contentment with their new life, stating, “We are happier than ever. She, because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.” Silva highlighted the couple’s humanitarian goals, noting that their relocation was driven by their involvement with a non-governmental organization in Madrid. “We want to help this country to end homelessness. Our goal is that, within five years, no one sleeps on the street,” she shared.

Reflecting on the move during an appearance on The Tonight Show, Gere remarked, “My wife is Spanish, and she gave me about seven years here, so we’re going to spend some years in Madrid. Our kids are bilingual, so they’re going to flourish there.”

In addition to their two children, Gere also has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from a previous marriage to Carey Lowell, while Silva has an 11-year-old son, Albert, from her prior relationship.

Recently, Gere garnered media attention for his participation in Spain’s prestigious film festival, where he received the International Award. In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude for the art of filmmaking and the importance of shared viewing experiences, stating, “Being with strangers in the dark watching a film… anything that takes us away from that magic means we are losing something in our basic DNA as human beings.”

Through this transition to life in Spain, Gere remains focused on his family and humanitarian efforts, adapting to this new chapter while finding joy in his daily experiences.
