Richard Goodall America's Got Talent

“America’s Got Talent” has crowned Richard Goodall as the winner of its 19th season. The singer from Indiana, known for his signature paperboy hat and an emotive rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” emerged victorious during the finale broadcast on Tuesday night. Goodall captivated audiences and judges alike with his powerhouse vocals, leading him to triumph over nine other finalists.

Goodall’s journey on the show included standout performances of Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” ultimately securing his win with the enduring classic, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Among the other finalists were Tanzanian acrobats from the group Hakuna Matata, Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi, and a Japanese dance ensemble. As the competition narrowed, Goodall faced off against the dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm from Israel in the final showdown.

Throughout the season, Goodall impressed the panel of judges – Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell. Klum described Goodall as “an amazing man,” remarking on his humility and dynamic stage presence, saying, “I want you to win this so bad, Richard.” Cowell and Mandel also expressed their admiration, with Mandel predicting Goodall’s victory early on.

The finale featured a series of performances, including memorable guest appearances by Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, musician Michael Bublé, guitarist Neal Schon alongside members of Journey, DJ Steve Aoki, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, and more. The evening’s entertainment began with a drone show by Sky Elements and a performance by former “AGT” contestants the Detroit Youth Choir.

Goodall’s victory was a dream come true for the singer who had been with a school district in western Indiana for 23 years and auditioned for “AGT” after a tragic personal loss in 2021. He stated that music became his bridge to healing after the death of his wife, Patty. Before his win, Goodall had remarried, his new spouse Angie Vanoven supporting him throughout the competition.

In addition to the $1 million prize, Goodall plans to continue pursuing his musical aspirations while enjoying retirement in Florida. He expressed plans to invest in a modest double-wide trailer home and indulging occasionally in seafood, underscoring his down-to-earth nature.

The top five acts were eventually revealed as Sky Elements, Learnmore Jonasi, Solange Kardinaly, and Roni Sagi & Rhythm alongside Goodall. Ultimately, Goodall was announced as the champion, securing not just a substantial cash prize but the adoration of viewers nationwide.
