Rick Moranis Spotted in Rare Public Outing in New York City
Rick Moranis, the beloved actor known for his iconic roles in the 1980s and 1990s, was recently spotted during a rare public outing in New York City. On Friday, November 15, Moranis was photographed taking a stroll in Manhattan, marking one of his few public appearances in recent years.
At 71, Moranis has maintained a largely private life since stepping back from Hollywood to raise his children after the death of his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky, in 1991. For his daytime outing, he was seen dressed warmly in a brown jacket, dark brown gloves, a green hat, green-brown pants, and brown shoes. He also wore brown-framed glasses and carried a black tote bag.
Moranis gained fame with his roles in films such as Ghostbusters (1984), The Flintstones, Parenthood, Little Shop of Horrors, and the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids series. Although he has not appeared in live-action movies since the 1990s, he has continued to perform in a few voice roles over the years.
In a 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moranis discussed his decision to take a break from acting, stating he had “absolutely no regrets” about focusing on his children. Despite his long hiatus, there have been recent developments; in 2020, it was announced that Moranis would reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski in a reboot of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, titled Shrunk, although the project remains in pre-production due to various delays.
