Rick and Morty Voice Actor Shares Wild Recording Experience with Son

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. — Canadian voice actor Eric Bauza, known for his work on the popular animated series “Rick and Morty,” recently revealed a chaotic recording experience for the show’s upcoming eighth season. During a studio session, he found himself voicing explicit content in front of his school-aged son, leading to an unexpected day filled with laughter and concern.
Bauza, who has lent his voice to multiple characters including Glen the Gromflomite and Shane the facehugger, shared details about the session, describing it as the day his son joined him at work due to school closures caused by recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
“We had this crazy, crazy turn of events called the L.A. wildfires, and my son’s school was closed for several days,” Bauza recalled. Despite preparing for the session with his son by bringing an iPad and headphones, the nature of the script proved challenging. The plan was to keep the profanity, spoilers, and chaotic themes of the show shielded from his child’s ears.
However, as Bauza began recording, the script took over. “I’m halfway through my script, and the producers are cracking up because they can see my son has been listening to me the whole time,” he said, noting that he was simultaneously amused and concerned about what his son might learn. “He learned some really weird words that day. I’m just waiting for child services to swoop in.”
As Bauza continued with the recording, he joked about the absurdity of it all, saying, “Hey, we’d take Child Protective Services over the Galactic Federation any day.” His experience highlights the often unpredictable nature of working in the entertainment industry, especially on a show known for its adult humor.
