Rob McElhenney’s Recent Ventures: From ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ to Wrexham Stadium Ambitions
Rob McElhenney, the co-owner of Wrexham football club and star of the hit TV series ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ has been in the spotlight for several reasons recently. One of the most notable is his cameo in the highly anticipated film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which unfortunately did not make the final cut. According to Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham with McElhenney, the cameo was cut due to the sequence not working as intended, despite McElhenney’s impressive performance as a Time Variance Authority soldier.
Reynolds expressed his gratitude and admiration for McElhenney, highlighting his friend’s talent and the comfort his presence brought during the stressful filming process. Despite the cameo being cut, Reynolds hopes the scenes will be included in the digital extras of the film.
In addition to his film endeavors, McElhenney and Reynolds are also making waves with their ambitious plans for Wrexham football club. The duo is aiming to build a new 55,000-seater stadium, a significant upgrade from the current 12,600 capacity of the Wrexham ground, which is currently undergoing refurbishment to expand to 16,000 seats. This project has been described as “incredible” by a former Wrexham manager, reflecting the owners’ commitment to capitalizing on their fame to benefit the club.
On the television front, McElhenney continues to be involved in the production of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ with the upcoming Season 17 promising more outrageous antics from the gang. McElhenney has also acknowledged the talents of his co-stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, stating there is no argument that they are the most talented members of the cast.
