Robert De Niro Considers Marriage to Tiffany Chen Amid Speculation
Robert De Niro, renowned for his tough-guy roles, is reportedly reconsidering his stance on marriage following pressure from Tiffany Chen, according to sources close to the couple. Chen, a 45-year-old martial arts instructor and mother to De Niro’s seventh child, Gia, reportedly managed to secure a marriage proposal despite the actor’s initial reluctance.
At 81, De Niro was seen with Chen at the premiere of ‘Megalopolis‘ in New York City on September 23, where she appeared content. An insider noted, “She looks happy… No doubt it’s because she’s finally wheedled him into a proposal,” suggesting that Chen’s optimism might stem from progress in their relationship.
Despite their public appearances, sources claim De Niro is not fully enthusiastic about the idea of marriage. “People know he doesn’t want to do it, and that it’s one of the reasons why he’s so cranky all the time,” an insider disclosed, further suggesting that the marriage decision is primarily motivated by his commitment to their daughter.
The couple’s relationship traces back to the set of the 2015 film ‘The Intern,’ where they first met. However, they only began dating in 2021, and welcomed their daughter Gia in April 2023. De Niro has expressed deep affection for his daughter, saying in an interview, “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about or this or that just goes away when I look at her. That in itself is wondrous.” This bond seems to be a driving factor in his considerations.
As speculation about their marriage continues, sources suggest that if a wedding does take place, it will likely be understated, with De Niro unwilling to indulge in an extravagant ceremony. “He’s not going to spend lavishly on it either! He’s known for being a cheapskate,” stated one source, highlighting the actor’s frugal nature.
