Met Gala Al Roker Red Carpet

NEW YORK, NY — Al Roker is preparing to take on a new role at the upcoming 2025 Met Gala, stepping in as a correspondent for the iconic event.

This year’s gala, scheduled for May 5, will focus on Black menswear, specifically the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Co-chairs for the event include fashion icons Anna Wintour, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and LeBron James.

Roker, best known for his weather reporting on NBC’s “Today” show, announced his participation on Instagram. “Well, work has begun on getting ready for the Met Gala at the beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art,” he wrote in a video shared on April 28. “This year, I’m actually gonna be covering it on the red carpet, talking about ‘Superfine’ Black tailoring and dandyism.”

Fans expressed excitement for Roker’s appearance, with comments ranging from “Have fun! Maybe next year you and Sheinelle can do it?” to “Super exciting!” Roker is filling in for his co-host, Sheinelle Jones, who has personal obligations this year.

The gala’s dress code emphasizes tailored menswear. The theme was inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” The event promises to showcase a diverse representation of Black style tailored for the modern era.

As Roker gears up for this milestone, fashion enthusiasts and fans eagerly await to see how he makes his mark on one of fashion’s most prestigious nights.
