Role Model Reflects on Life, Heartbreak, and Kansas Anymore

LOS ANGELES, California — Musician Tucker Pillsbury, known as Role Model, is riding high after a successful year filled with personal and professional growth. His second studio album, Kansas Anymore, debuted in July with an expanded version released in February, creating a wave of excitement amongst fans.
Following a month-long tour with Gracie Abrams, Role Model is now headlining his own shows, engaging fans who eagerly line up hours before the concert for a chance to join him onstage. Moments from his live performances, particularly during the song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” have gone viral on social media.
However, the release of Kansas Anymore came during a challenging time in Role Model’s life, as he was grappling with heartbreak from his breakup with social media star Emma Chamberlain. The album features themes of grief and self-discovery, with tracks like “Frances” and “Oh, Gemini” reflecting his emotional journey.
“I feel like people have just been watching me slowly, like, figure it out,” Role Model told Rolling Stone while discussing his rise in the music scene. He emphasized that the album represents his evolution as a musician and a person, showcasing his improved songwriting skills.
As he navigates fame, Role Model also shares insights on handling the pressures of social media. “I try not to shower in it and bathe in the fact that my face is on the internet a lot right now,” he noted, promoting a healthy perspective on online validation.
In addition to his reflections on personal growth, Role Model encourages fans to focus on friendships and community, particularly after a breakup. “Go make friends and push yourself to make friends, because it helps,” he advised, sharing that reconnecting with his friends helped him move on after his relationship.
Looking forward, Role Model has hinted at an unpredictable future for his music. “Honestly, who even knows? Anything,” he said, leaving fans excited for what’s next.
