Ronnie Dunn Concert Indianapolis Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — Ronnie Dunn, one half of the iconic country music duo Brooks & Dunn, walked off stage during an encore performance of their hit song “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” Friday night, prompting concern among fans. The 71-year-old singer had been battling illness throughout the concert at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Dunn began the performance strong but struggled to complete the first verse, asking the audience to sing along during the chorus. He acknowledged the crowd with a wave and a pat on his chest before leaving the stage, indicating that he could not continue.

According to reports from Taste of Country, Dunn’s voice began to crack during high notes, and he appeared winded at various points throughout the show. Observers noted that he sat at times and seemed noticeably under the weather. One attendee commented, “He said at one point that he could hardly breathe, but he had been singing really hard when he made that comment. Praying for him!”

Fans took to social media to express their thoughts and concern for Dunn’s well-being. Many recalled that Dunn had announced last month during a performance at the Houston Rodeo that he was recovering from COVID-19. “Hope everything’s alright with Ronnie,” wrote one fan. “He didn’t sing as much as he normally does,” noted another.

Despite the health scare, Dunn, alongside Kix Brooks, has been on the road for their Neon Moon Tour, which began in Texas last month. A fan expressed gratitude for the concert experience, saying, “I’m glad we got to be there and see them again. Hope Ronnie is alright. Kix did his best to carry on.”

Adding to the concert’s charm, Dunn recently shared the stage with rising star Parker McCollum, known for his hit song “Pretty Heart.” McCollum, dubbed the “Gold Chain Cowboy,” joined Brooks & Dunn during their performance of “Red Dirt Road.” The duo’s chemistry was evident, although a light-hearted moment unfolded when Dunn appeared to signal McCollum about his gold chain, creating a father-son dynamic that entertained the crowd.

Many in attendance commented on the exchange, with phrases like, “Aw Parker looked embarrassed,” and “That was weird,” highlighting the playful yet affectionate interaction between the two artists.

As Brooks & Dunn continue their tour, fans are eager to see Dunn return to his full vocal strength, especially with upcoming performances scheduled at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 21 and 22. “Whatever Ronnie Dunn says, you listen,” said one enthusiastic supporter, underscoring his legacy in country music.

Even as Dunn recovers, he remains a revered figure in the industry, celebrated for his contributions since the duo debuted in 1991 with their groundbreaking single “Brand New Man.” As fans rally behind the legend, many are hopeful for his swift return to the stage.
