Rutgers University Hosts Open House and Advances in Research and Education
Rutgers University is gearing up for several significant events and milestones, particularly at its Newark campus. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the university is hosting the Rutgers–Newark Open House 2024, specifically for the Rutgers Business School–Newark and the School of Public Affairs and Administration. This event, scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., aims to provide prospective students with an immersive experience of the academic and extracurricular opportunities available at the university.
In addition to the open house, Rutgers University has been making strides in research and education. The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) at Rutgers has been highlighted for its immersive, hands-on research and experiential learning programs. SEBS brings together faculty, staff, and students to focus on human and environmental health, inspiring socially responsible leaders to build a sustainable and just future. Recent achievements include a groundbreaking study on the Core Microbiome and the unveiling of a new teaching kitchen as part of a state-of-the-art culinary foods lab.
The university’s commitment to real-world learning is also evident through student projects. For instance, Ishir Hazarika, an intern for the mayor’s office in Berkeley Heights, created a video showcasing the devastating effects of flooding in the township, which led to a $2 million grant to upgrade the municipal sewer system. Such initiatives demonstrate the practical impact of Rutgers’ educational programs.
Rutgers University continues to engage in various academic seminars and events across its campuses. Upcoming seminars include discussions on developmental programming of boar fertility and the impact of cash transfers on household dynamics, reflecting the university’s diverse range of academic interests and research areas.
