Ryan Gosling Disappointed Over Greta Gerwig And Margot Robbie's Oscar Snub For 'barbie'

Actor Ryan Gosling expressed his disappointment over the major Oscar nomination snub of Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie for the film ‘Barbie‘. Gosling, who received a nomination himself for best supporting actor for his role as Ken, said he was honored but felt there could be no Ken without Barbie, and no Barbie movie without Gerwig and Robbie.

Gerwig, the film’s director, was not nominated in the best director category, but she was recognized alongside her husband Noah Baumbach for best adapted screenplay. Robbie, on the other hand, missed out on a best actress nomination but received a nod as a producer for best picture.

Barbie, the highest-grossing film of 2023, received a total of eight nominations, including for best picture. However, Gosling expressed his disappointment that Gerwig and Robbie were not nominated in their respective categories. He hailed them as the two individuals most responsible for the success of the film and believed their work should be recognized alongside the other deserving nominees.

The actor also expressed his happiness for his co-star America Ferrera, who was nominated for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Gloria in the film. However, Ferrera herself voiced her disappointment over Gerwig and Robbie’s snub in the best actress and best director categories. She praised Robbie’s unbelievable achievements as an actress and Gerwig’s exceptional work as a director.

The 96th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, will take place on March 10th in Los Angeles. Leading the nominations is Christopher Nolan‘s film ‘Oppenheimer‘, which received 13 nominations. Other notable nominations include Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr for acting, and Nolan for best director. ‘Poor Things‘, a film about an infant with a transplanted brain, received 11 nominations, making it the second-most nominated film.
