Ryan Thomas’ Emotional Tribute to Late Father Moves Dancing On Ice Viewers
Ryan Thomas, known for his role as Jason Grimshaw in the popular soap opera Coronation Street, touched the hearts of viewers on Sunday night during his appearance on Dancing on Ice.
Teamed up with professional skater Amani Fancy, Ryan delivered an emotional performance dedicated to his late father, Dougie James, a renowned 70s soul singer who passed away in 2020.
Following his heartfelt routine, Ryan was visibly moved, struggling to contain his emotions as he embraced his skating partner and looked skyward.
Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern post-skate, Ryan expressed, “It was pretty special.”
The judging panel, including Christopher Dean and Oti Mabuse, praised Ryan and Amani for their poignant performance, awarding them their highest score of the season with 35 points.
Viewers were also deeply affected by the touching tribute, with many taking to social media to share their tears and admiration for Ryan’s skate.
Despite differing opinions on the scoring, with some viewers feeling Ryan was overmarked, the emotional significance of the performance resonated strongly with the audience.
In the end, Ryan Thomas and Amani Fancy managed to secure their spot in the competition, avoiding the elimination round, while former EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood bid farewell to the ice.
