2025 SAG Awards Set to Honor Cinematic Talent This Weekend

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21, 2025 — The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards will take place this Sunday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, streaming live on Netflix. The event, which is set to showcase the best in film and television acting, comes less than two weeks before the Oscars.

This year’s top films competing for the coveted Best Ensemble award include “Anora,” “A Complete Unknown,” “Conclave,” “Emilia Pérez,” and “Wicked.” The nominees for Best Actor and Best Actress include notable names such as Adrien Brody for “The Brutalist,” Timothée Chalamet for “A Complete Unknown,” and Cynthia Erivo for “Wicked.”

For the first time since 2019, the SAG Awards will feature an official host, with actress Kristen Bell taking the stage. Bell previously hosted the awards in 2018 and is nominated for her role as Joanne in the Netflix romantic comedy “Nobody Wants This.” “I’m thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” Bell said in a statement. “I can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, doing what we do best…celebrating ourselves.”

Legendary actress Jane Fonda has been announced as the recipient of this year’s SAG Life Achievement Award, and will be honored during the ceremony. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is slated to present the award. “I am deeply honored and humbled to be this year’s recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award,” Fonda said. “There’s no honor like the one bestowed on you by your peers.”

The ceremony will also include contributions from a range of presenters, including Ariana Grande, Colman Domingo, and Harrison Ford, among many others. A pre-show hosted by Lilly Singh and Sasheer Zamata will air beginning at 7 p.m. ET, also on Netflix.

The SAG Awards are regarded as an indicator for the Academy Awards, especially since the acting branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is the largest group within it. Previous Best Picture winners like “Parasite,” “CODA,” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” showcased strength in the SAG Awards’ ensemble category.
