LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Director Sam Raimi is returning to the horror genre with his upcoming film, “Send Help,” which will hit theaters on January 30, 2026. Produced by 20th Century Studios, the film promises to deliver a gripping blend of survival and psychological horror.

Starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, alongside Dennis Haysbert and Chris Pang, “Send Help” follows two colleagues who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. As the only survivors, they must confront their past grievances while battling the elements and each other in order to survive. The screenplay is penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, known for their work on “Freddy vs. Jason” and “Friday the 13th (2009).”

Raimi, who is also producing the film via Raimi Productions alongside Zainab Azizi, expressed excitement about the project. “In every good horror film, the real terror comes not just from the environment but from the characters themselves. I’m thrilled to explore that dynamic through ‘Send Help,'” said Raimi.

The director is well-known for blending horror with quirky elements, as seen in his previous works such as the cult classic “Drag Me to Hell.” Notably, this marks his first full-fledged horror film since that 2009 endeavor. “Send Help” aims to reignite the intense atmosphere of survival horror that has captivated audiences in the past.

While Raimi has recently dabbled in the superhero genre with Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” his return to horror hints at a promising mix of suspense and character-driven storytelling.

As anticipation builds for the film, fans can expect a compelling narrative that raises questions about trust, survival, and the darkness within that often surfaces in dire situations. It’s a stark reminder of how the struggles between characters can be just as terrifying as any external threat.
