San Diego Zoo Hosts Festivities for National Panda Day Celebration

San Diego, California – The San Diego Zoo is gearing up to celebrate National Panda Day on Sunday, offering exciting giveaways and special offers for guests at Denny Sanford Panda Ridge.
The first 2,000 children aged 11 and under will receive complimentary panda ears to wear during their visit, encouraging a festive atmosphere dedicated to the beloved animals. In addition, families can take advantage of a unique photo opportunity designed to help create lasting memories with the zoo’s star attractions.
This celebration comes on the heels of the debut of the zoo’s giant panda pair, Xin Bao and Yun Chuan, in their state-of-the-art habitat, Denny Sanford Panda Ridge, which opened in August. The new habitat has already attracted thousands of visitors eager to see the first giant pandas to arrive in the United States in over two decades.
The design of Panda Ridge is inspired by the natural terrains of the pandas’ native habitats, which are located in China’s Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi provinces. The habitat includes climbing trees, diverse vegetation, and rolling hills that promote exploration and vertical movement, catering to the pandas’ natural instincts.
“We are thrilled to bring the joy of giant pandas to our community and celebrate their importance,” said a zoo spokesperson. “This event gives families a chance to engage with these magnificent animals and learn more about panda conservation efforts.”
As visitors flock to see Xin Bao and Yun Chuan, the San Diego Zoo continues to reinforce its role in wildlife conservation and education. The National Panda Day celebration is just one of many initiatives designed to foster an appreciation for wildlife among young attendees.
