TORONTO, Canada — Sara Waisglass, known for her role as Maxine Baker in the hit series “Ginny & Georgia,” reflects on the character’s journey in the newly released third season.

In recent episodes, viewers are taken into Max’s chaotic internal monologue, filled with concerns about relationships and responsibilities. Waisglass notes, “It’s a relatable moment,” emphasizing that she resonates with Max more than ever after four years of portraying her.

“Whenever I’m with my mum, we’ll joke about clothing items being ‘so Max,’” Waisglass shared during a Zoom interview. “Max gives me a part of her confidence when I’m in new situations, like this interview.” Currently, Waisglass, 26, feels a wave of positivity as she spends time with her long-distance boyfriend in Toronto.

The third season of “Ginny & Georgia” features a gripping storyline where Georgia is arrested for murder, pushing Ginny to navigate her mother’s dark past and her own evolving relationships, including with Max. “Max is loud, outgoing, and passionate,” Waisglass explained. “But this season shows her newfound vulnerability and attentiveness to Ginny’s struggles.”

Max’s friendship with Ginny faces challenges this season, with social dynamics shifting and moments of painful isolation. Waisglass finds these themes resonate deeply with viewers, saying, “It’s something many high school girls experience.”

On the horizon for the series, Waisglass hints at unresolved tensions between Max and her friends: “She’s in a weird place with her friends, and I hope they can mend that.” This season also sees Abby exploring her sexual identity, further complicating friendships within their group.

With a focus on mental health across various characters, the show addresses serious issues with sensitivity and care. Waisglass noted, “This season really highlights the different coping mechanisms characters exhibit.”

As the season concludes, Waisglass is eager for what lies ahead, expressing a desire for Max to navigate her insecurities and relationships: “Self-love and finding her footing will be important for her growth in Season 4.” She enjoys the collaborative spirit of the cast and wishes to bring her own stories to life in the future.
