Todd And Julie Chrisley Prison Update

ATLANTA, Feb. 20, 2025 — Savannah Chrisley revealed that her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, have not communicated since they began serving their prison sentences over two years ago. The reality TV stars, who reported to federal prison in January 2023 after being convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, remain separated despite being together for nearly 30 years.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Savannah, 27, shared the emotional toll the separation has taken on the couple. “They don’t get to speak. It’s been two years, and they haven’t spoken a word to each other,” she said. “That’s been a challenge. That should never happen.” The couple is currently serving a combined 19-year sentence, with Todd facing 12 years and Julie seven.

Efforts to communicate have been further complicated by the conditions within the federal prison system. Savannah criticized the Bureau of Prisons for their claims of supporting family unity, asserting, “That is so far from the truth. They make it almost impossible to communicate with loved ones. They don’t make anything easy.” She explained that there have been issues with mail and email interference, adding that mail theft has occurred at her father’s facility in Pensacola, Florida.

As an advocate for prison reform, Savannah has been vocal about the struggles her family has faced. “It sucks that my parents are going through what they’re going through, but we’re going to take this and make something great out of it,” she said. “In the end, the government will not win.” Savannah has also been working with President Trump‘s team to seek a pardon for her parents.

Despite the challenges, Savannah has continued to visit her parents as often as possible. She manages once or twice a month, depending on her other responsibilities, including caring for her younger sister, Chloe. “I try to go as much as possible. Obviously, when Chloe’s in school, it’s a little harder,” she explained.

Reflecting on their visits, Savannah expressed, “It’s the greatest thing ever. We just catch up on so much. I mean, once, twice a month. But I try to go, like I said, as much as I can.” Yet, the emotional burden remains significant. “As much as we enjoy it and love it, it’s also really hard leaving because you know you’re leaving them there. That’s the tough part, turning your back and walking away,” she added.

The Chrisleys, who gained fame through their reality show, “Chrisley Knows Best,” faced legal troubles that began in 2019 when they were indicted on multiple counts including bank fraud. They were found guilty in 2022 and later had their prison sentences adjusted in 2023, with Todd’s reduced by two years and Julie’s by 14 months.

As Savannah continues to advocate for her parents and reflect on their situation, she remains hopeful for the future. “I know that’s my only job right now, is to get them home,” she said, underscoring her commitment to reuniting her family.
