Scorsese and DiCaprio to Film in Rhode Island This Fall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Filmmaking legends Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are teaming up for a new project in Rhode Island, scheduled to begin filming this October and November.
A source familiar with the production informed NBC 10 that the filmmakers have applied for necessary permits and state tax credits to support their project.
This collaboration will be centered around the action thriller titled “Carthage Must Be Destroyed,” with legendary screenwriter Ted Griffin at the helm. The film will explore the journey of a stranger in a decaying rust-belt city dominated by crime, aiming to dismantle its corrupt power structure.
Verdi Productions, led by Chad A. Verdi, is partnering with Scorsese and DiCaprio for this endeavor. Verdi stated that the company plans to invest over $150 million into several films over the next five years, although it’s uncertain how many will shoot in Rhode Island. He emphasized the company’s commitment to utilizing local resources, dependent on the state’s film tax credits.
Rhode Island has developed a reputation as a favorite location for filmmakers, catching the eyes of industry heavyweights. Executive Director of the R.I. Film & Television Office, Steven Feinberg, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating it would generate economic activity and provide approximately 200 jobs for local cast and crew members.
In the past, Verdi Productions has collaborated with Scorsese and DiCaprio on multiple occasions, including the Oscar-nominated “The Irishman.” Now, with casting already underway for “Carthage,” expectations run high for this upcoming film.
