Scott Foley Joins Amazon Prime Video’s New Faith-Based Drama

LOS ANGELES, CA — Scott Foley has officially signed on to star in and executive produce the upcoming faith-based drama series, “It's Not Like That,” on Amazon Prime Video. The series, created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, received a cast-contingent series order in November, which has now been lifted due to Foley’s casting.
Foley will take on the role of Malcolm, a modern-day minister who is a recent widower. The show’s logline describes the narrative: ‘Lori is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood, and the complexities of modern ministry. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?’
This series will delve into the lives of both characters as they maneuver through their new normal while exploring potential connections between them amidst their challenging circumstances.
The series is produced by Wonder Project in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Executive producers include Deitchman, Robinson, Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, and Alex Goldstone for 42 & Anonymous Content, as well as Kingdom Story Company. Justin Rosenblatt, Wonder Project’s head of global television, will oversee the project.
Foley, known for his roles in popular series such as “Felicity,” “Scandal,” and “The Unit,” is currently seen on ABC’s “Will Trent” as Dr. Seth McDale, the confident and down-to-earth head of emergency medicine. He also stars in the Netflix feature “La Dolce Villa,” released on February 13, and is slated to return to the “Scream” franchise in the upcoming seventh installment.
Deitchman and Robinson, who have previously worked on Amazon’s “As We See It,” “Carnival Row,” and the series “Ordinary Joe” at NBC, bring their extensive experience to this new project. They will serve as showrunners.
The role of Lori has yet to be cast, and production details are forthcoming as the project enters further stages of development.
