Scott Peterson Denies Murder In New Interview

In a new interview that marks his first on-camera remarks in nearly two decades, Scott Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife Laci Peterson and their unborn son Conner, is speaking out. During this interview, he admits he was unfaithful to Laci but firmly denies any involvement in their deaths.

Now 51, Peterson described himself as a ‘total a–hole’ for cheating on Laci while she was pregnant. He expressed regret over his actions, saying, ‘It’s horrible. I was a total a-hole to be having sex outside our marriage.’ However, he insisted, ‘I didn’t kill my family.’

This interview is part of a three-part documentary series titled ‘Face to Face with Scott Peterson,’ which will be available on the NBC streaming platform, Peacock, starting August 20. This comes just months after the Los Angeles Innocence Project took up Peterson’s case, supporting his claims of wrongful conviction.

In the documentary, Peterson challenges the police investigations that led to his conviction, calling it a ‘so-called investigation.’ He said he hopes to share the truth and wishes he had testified during his trial.

Laci went missing while she was eight months pregnant on Christmas Eve in 2002. Her remains, along with those of their son, were found months later in San Francisco Bay. At his trial, accusations against Peterson included that he smothered Laci to be with his mistress and then disposed of her body.

Despite the defense claiming Laci was kidnapped, the jury found Peterson guilty after considering the circumstantial evidence. He was sentenced to death in 2004, but the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence in 2020, finding errors in jury selection. His conviction still stands, and he is now serving life without parole.

New developments have emerged, as Peterson’s legal team mentions new evidence that raises questions about who might have killed Laci and Conner. This has sparked more attention on a case that has captivated the public for years.

Another documentary titled ‘American Murder: Laci Peterson’ is also set to debut on Netflix, further exploring this infamous case and the events surrounding it.
