SDG&E Customers to Receive April Energy Credit Amid Climate Program

San Diego, Calif. — Customers of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will receive financial relief on their utility bills this April, thanks to the California Climate Credit, as announced by the California Public Utilities Commission on Monday.
Residential customers can expect an energy credit of $81.38 on their electric bills and $54.21 on their natural gas bills. This initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens for consumers during the ongoing energy cost fluctuations.
“Through collaboration with the California Public Utilities Commission, our customers will see some financial relief in their upcoming bill,” said Dana Golan, SDG&E’s Chief Customer Officer. “If anyone is struggling to pay their bill, they can reach out to us to learn about various financial assistance programs we have available.”
In addition to the April credits, SDG&E customers will receive a second electric credit in October, bringing the total savings from the California Climate Credit program to $217 for each customer over the year.
The California Climate Credit is part of the state’s Cap-and-Trade Program, which charges polluters for greenhouse gas emissions. The credits are distributed in April and October every year to help offset the costs related to these environmental initiatives.
It is important to note that billing cycles may vary, meaning not all customers will see the credit reflected on their bills simultaneously in April. However, recipients need not take any action to receive the credit, as it will be automatically applied to all gas and electricity customers, including those served by community choice aggregation and master-metered customers.
