The View Talk Show Table Discussions

NEW YORK, NY — During a segment of ‘The View‘ on Thursday morning, host Jennifer Hall addressed the absence of co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin while promoting her new children’s book, revealing an unexpected dynamic at the Hot Topics table.

Hall, visibly nervous but eager to share her thoughts, noted, “I was a little nervous when I came out on the show, which is why I’m happy Sunny and Joy aren’t here because I get really nervous by the numbers. This is intimate here.” As she promoted her book, titled ‘Shelly,’ which revolves around a woman searching for her sister, Hall shared personal anecdotes about her own shyness from childhood.

Reflecting on the book’s inspiration, Hall recounted a poignant moment from March 2024 when she disclosed her sister’s tragic murder during a past episode of ‘The View.’ At that time, both Hostin and Behar had been present. Hall said, “[When] my sister’s murder happened, I felt so helpless. I remember being on the phone with the detective, and he said, ‘We know who did it but we can’t convict.’ Not enough evidence.” She explained that Shelly’s character bears resemblance to her sister, connecting emotionally with the story she crafted.

“When I was writing Shelly, you’ll see she travels a great distance and ambushes Jordan begging for her help. So that’s to resolve some of the helplessness that I felt,” Hall articulated, illustrating how deeply personal experiences shaped her storytelling.

Meanwhile, the conversation shifted to co-host Alyssa Griffin, who joined ‘The View’ in 2022 after serving in key strategic communications roles during the Trump administration. Griffin addressed a serious topic concerning leaked discussions about war plans, emphasizing her experience and knowledge of Pentagon protocols.

Griffin explained how proper planning is typically conducted outside of group chats, stating, “Let me tell you how this is supposed to work. So when I was in The Pentagon, I was involved with planning leading up to air strikes a number of times.” Behar, surprised by Griffin’s credentials, asked for clarification, prompting Griffin to list her experience.

Responding to Behar’s amazement, Griffin remarked, “Yes, but this is old news to The View.” She went on to assert, “No one would have a personal cell phone. You wouldn’t even have your government device with you. An encrypted messaging app is not secure. It is not where you can legally share classified information.”

As the discussion unfolded, the dynamically shifting dynamics between the co-hosts of ‘The View’ highlighted both the diverse experiences they bring to the table and the unique personal narratives that often intertwine with their professional discussions.

‘The View’ airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
