Selena Gomez Postpones Rare Album Pop-Up Due to California Wildfires

Selena Gomez has postponed her Rare album pop-up event in Los Angeles due to the ongoing wildfires devastating California. The event, originally scheduled to celebrate the fifth anniversary of her 2020 album, was set to take place at Complex LA from January 10 to January 12, 2025.

In a statement posted to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Gomez expressed her devastation over the wildfires’ impact on the community. “We are devastated to see the impact the wildfires continue to have on our community in Los Angeles,” she wrote. “The safety and well-being of our team and community are top priorities, and with that in mind, we have decided to postpone Rare: The Pop-Up in partnership with Complex.”

The pop-up was set to feature Rare Beauty products, album merchandise, and a limited-edition Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Duo. Gomez also shared resources for evacuation shelters, animal support, and mental health services in her Instagram Stories, urging her followers to stay safe. “As a Los Angeles-based team, our hearts are with California as we face massive wildfires that have threatened communities, displaced families, and destroyed homes,” she added.

The Rare album, released in January 2020, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and included the hit single “Lose You to Love Me.” The album’s success inspired Gomez’s cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty, which has become a major player in the beauty industry.

The wildfires have caused widespread destruction across California, with over 1,000 structures destroyed and five fatalities reported. Celebrities such as Billy Crystal, Paris Hilton, and Mandy Moore have also been affected, losing homes in the disaster.

Gomez’s postponement is one of several entertainment industry disruptions caused by the wildfires. The Golden Globe nominations announcement was delayed, and premieres for films like A Better Man and Wolf Man were canceled or postponed.

No new dates for the Rare pop-up have been announced, but Gomez assured fans that details would be shared soon. The event was expected to include interactive games, photo booths, and exclusive giveaways.
