Seth Rollins Confirms He Was Cut from ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Professional wrestler-turned-actor Seth Rollins has confirmed that his scenes were cut from Marvel Studios‘ upcoming film, ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ Rollins, who was rumored to play a member of the Serpent Society, revealed the news during an interview on Chris Van Vliet‘s ‘Insight’ podcast.
‘It releases in February. I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film,’ Rollins said. ‘The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots, so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased.’ Rollins added that Marvel attempted to keep him in the movie by having him audition for another role, but ultimately decided to go in a different direction.
While Rollins’ role was never officially confirmed, it was widely speculated that he would portray Cobra, a member of the Serpent Society. Despite his removal, the Serpent Society remains part of the film, with Giancarlo Esposito cast as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, the group’s leader, and Rosa Salazar as Diamondback.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he navigates an international crisis following the election of Thaddeus Ross as U.S. president. Directed by Julius Onah, the film is set to premiere on February 14, 2025.
Rollins emphasized that he holds no ill will toward the project, stating, ‘Marvel does a great job. It should be a good one.’
