Seven Suspects In Aka And Tibz Murder Case Appear In Court

Five of the seven suspects linked to the tragic murder of the renowned rapper AKA and beloved chef Tibz made a courtroom appearance at the Durban Magistrate's Court. The high-profile case, which shook the entertainment industry, saw the suspects facing legal proceedings related to the fatal shooting of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane outside a popular Durban eatery in February last year.

Among those present in the courtroom was Tony Forbes, AKA’s father, who closely followed the developments of the proceedings. He expressed the emotional difficulty faced not only by their family but also by the Motsoane family, acknowledging the widespread impact of the tragedy.

During media interactions, Tony Forbes refrained from speculating on the potential mastermind among the arrested suspects, emphasizing the need for concrete evidence and due process. Despite ongoing investigations, he cautiously expressed his optimism at the progress made, stating, “For me, it is the start of the next stage in seeking justice for both families. We are only at the initial phase, but it marks a crucial step forward.”

Regarding the involvement of AKA’s young daughter, Kairo, Tony Forbes shared that the child continues to grapple with the loss, indicating that discussions about the incident have been challenging within the family. He noted that Kairo’s understanding of the situation remains limited, and her emotional struggle persists as they navigate the aftermath.

Furthermore, with the bail application for the suspects postponed to March 6th, the legal process is poised for further developments. Additionally, uncertainties loom over the extradition proceedings of two other suspects in the case. Police Minister Bheki Cele reassured the public of a smooth extradition from eSwatini, while the NPA‘s representative, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, shed light on the charges awaiting the accused individuals.
