A flash flood warning has been issued for all of Southwestern Pennsylvania as severe storms move through the region on Tuesday night. The warning covers Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland, Armstrong, Butler, Indiana, Beaver, and Lawrence counties until 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

An earlier flood advisory, which included Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, and Washington counties, expired just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday. The National Weather Service Pittsburgh highlighted ongoing concerns of flooding as heavy rain continues overnight into Wednesday morning.

Tuesday and Wednesday have been designated as First Alert Weather Days in anticipation of the rain, storms, and potential flooding. The region is expecting an active weather pattern this week, with snow even in the forecast, making it one of the wettest days in years for Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.

Heavy rain is already impacting the area, with some regions experiencing up to an inch of rainfall. Pittsburgh’s daily record for rain stands at 1.44 inches, set back in 2007. While the downpour is expected to ease by the afternoon, there is a looming threat of severe storms from mid-afternoon through late Tuesday night, bringing the possibility of gusty winds, hail, and tornadoes alongside the ongoing floods.

Following this system, colder air is set to move in on Wednesday, causing temperatures to drop throughout the day with rain and snow showers likely on Thursday and Friday. Despite the potential for dry conditions during the Pirates‘ home opener, temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid to upper 40s, creating a chilly event for fans in attendance.

Looking ahead, the weekend is expected to bring warmer weather, with significantly warmer air projected for the following week. Stay connected with weather updates and severe warnings both on your phone and at home to ensure safety during this impactful weather period.
