Shakira Concert Monterrey Soccer Stadium

MONTERREY, Mexico — The excitement surrounding Shakira‘s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” coincides with a critical night for the Monterrey football club as they face the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Concacaf Champions Cup on March 12, 2025. The concert’s logistics have forced the Rayados to relocate their match to Estadio Corona, home of Santos Laguna.

Originally set to take place at Estadio BBVA, the Monterrey team’s preparations have been affected by the concert, which is expected to draw significant crowds. This unexpected change comes as the Rayados prepare for a decisive playoff round against the Canadian MLS team, with the aggregate score from the first leg tied at 1-1.

Star player Sergio Ramos, a decorated defender and 2010 FIFA World Cup champion, will make his debut in the tournament, despite not performing at home. “For a professional like Ramos, gameplay is what matters most, especially with the stakes of progressing to the Club World Cup,” said club spokesperson Martín Demichelis.

The first leg of the matches saw Roberto De La Rosa and Belal Halbouni each finding the net, leaving both teams eager for victory in the away game.

Tickets for Shakira’s concert are still available for those willing to pay 5,367 pesos. Fans can purchase them while hoping to see their team advance to the next round and witness Ramos play in front of his home crowd at Estadio BBVA.

As the match kicks off at 6:30 PM local time, the Rayados will look to capitalize on their current form and aim for a spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The venue change means the team will not have access to its usual home advantage, which could play a significant role in the match’s outcome.

“We remain optimistic about our chances despite this hurdle,” coach Demichelis stated. “We have trained well and are prepared for any situation that comes our way.”
