Shakira’s Upcoming Barranquilla Concerts Spark Enthusiasm and Sell Out in Record Time
Shakira, the world-renowned superstar hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, has generated considerable excitement with the announcement of her concerts in her hometown. The initial concert date of February 20 quickly sold out, prompting the artist to add a second performance on February 21 at the Estadio Metropolitano. Tickets for this additional date were also snapped up in record time, reflecting the fervor of her local fanbase.
The timing of Shakira’s performances is serendipitous, as they coincide with Barranquilla’s festive season. A historic development occurred when the iconic “Guacherna” parade, part of the Barranquilla Carnival celebrations, was rescheduled to February 22. This alteration was made to accommodate Shakira’s concerts, following an agreement among Carnival S.A.S., the local community, and festival organizers.
In a social media post, Shakira expressed her delight at the overwhelming response from her fans. The artist, known for her deep connection to her roots, shared her enthusiasm on Instagram, stating, “Me acaban de decir que se agotó la segunda fecha en Barranquilla, no me lo puedo creer. Estoy tan emocionada y además voy a estar cantando ahí en época de Carnaval, no puede ser mejor, es un sueño.”
Shakira expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with her fans and perform in Barranquilla once more. In another message across her Instagram stories, she said, “Barranquilla linda, que emoción tan grande, gracias por darme este lujo de cantar una noche más con ustedes. ¡Qué ganas de estar en mi casa!”
Her performances in Colombia, which include planned concerts in Medellín and Bogotá, will attract a combined audience of approximately 220,000 people. Shakira is the first artist to achieve five stadium concerts within a single tour in Colombia. Additionally, her latest single, “Soltera,” has garnered over 11 million views in just four days, underscoring her continued global impact.
In the international arena, Shakira is setting records with her tour “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.” The first international leg of the tour saw ticket sales exceeding 800,000 for 17 stadium shows, all of which sold out within two hours, highlighting Shakira’s enduring global popularity.
